The Firefighters Charity
Supporting the fire service community for 75 years
From supporting bereaved families of firefighters killed in the Blitz, to a modern day service that provides life enhancing health and wellbeing support to the whole fire community, proud to support our everyday firefighting heroes.
In 1940 the London Fire Service Benevolent Fund was set up by Major Jackson, London's fire chief, from an initial donation of £24. In 1943 the fund nationalises to become the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund and would continue to be called this until 2008 when the name was changed to
The Firefighters Charity.
The charity offers a broad range of services which include rehabilitation, nursing and recuperation from its three centers based across the UK. The Firefighters Charity supports thousands of beneficiaries a year through its broad range of services. Here is an outline of the principles behind the services, as well as the services themselves.
The support they offer is short term and will be focused on addressing your needs.
All input is aimed towards individuals being able to manage their condition or situation effectively at home.
This reablement approach is interdisciplinary, with Physiotherapists, exercise therapists and psychological therapists all involved in programme delivery.
You will always be directed to the most appropriate service to meet your needs
Charity services are only designed to meet certain health and social care needs, in some cases the Charity’s services may not be appropriate or suitable in meeting your needs.
